Palmetto Point and Pineapple Cays, Eleuthera, Bahamas

We are anchored off the beach at Palmetto Bay with the Pineapple Cay Islands beside us. The settlements of Palmetto Point North and South are also home to Island Farms.

Seeking out a calm anchorage for windy weather ahead, we moved from Cabbage Cay, past Frozen and Alders Cays to Bonds Cay by slipping through the charted path at high tide to the anchorage out of the ocean swells. Our choice of beach on the banks side or a hike across the island to the Tongue of the Ocean side beach great for beach combing. Black Point Settlement on Great Guana Cay attracts cruisers for its selection of restaurants, water view laundromat and free water and garbage disposal. The locals are friendly and welcoming and there's a huge sandbar at low tide and great hiking along the sound side beach all the way to the cut.
